I must admit as a person who has always said I would never own a diesel vehicle, I am absolutely wrapped with this vehicle. Pulling our 5th wheeler with this unit is like driving an armchair around Australia.
The comfort is superb and the level of features appears to leave nothing to be desired.
As GMC’s top of the line model the SLT has features to burn such as leather seats excellent sound system with six stacker CD changer with amplifier and six Bose speakers dual controlled Climate controlled air conditioning stacks of computer aided reminder systems and my favourite a tow haul mode on the auto transmission to enhance the towing ability in hilly or difficult terrain.
It is hard to believe that in good conditions on a safe open road the vehicle turns over 1800 revs at 100 km per hour in overdrive.
Size is perceived as a problem with these units , with dimensions of around 2 metres wide and a little over 6 metres long one would think it could be a little unwieldy. Whilst it is harder to park particularly in in line parking ( it is better to reverse in to spaces ) it does not really present many problems.
It is important to remember that the vehicles turning circle is greater due to its longer wheel base and it needs a clearance of 2 metres if you wish to go into shopping centre car parks. Because most parking spaces are around 5.5 metres long it is more practical to use parking spaces that you can reverse in to and take advantage of any overhang into gardens or concrete walk ways.
But don’t let that put you off because the benefits are well worth the effort.
Expect to pay around $120,000 new with options the same as ours.
